I give you some illustration of questions asked in previous years in
anthropology in civil services examination that also reflect the scope of
limitation of questions in anthropology.
The question relating to law and justice has been very
relevant in anthropology keeping in view the examination is held for
administrative purposes. So whatever may be the change in the wording of
questions such as primitive concept of justice ,concept of law and justice in
simple societies, how law and order maintained in simple societies, in fact,
question regarding the nature of law and justice in simple tribal societies
has been repeatedly asked in anthropology civil services examination in the
year 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976, 1983, 1985,1986,1991, 1996, and
The question relating to definition and types of marriage has been asked in
the examination in the year 1989 and 2014. The question relating to
polyandry, a distinctive form of marriage in which a man marries several
women has been asked in 1983, 1986 and 2009.
Further question relating to family such as universality of family in the year
1984, 1988, 1993 ,2015 and type of family in the year 1987 and 1992.
Question regarding pre-history especially relating to Mesolithic asked
repeatedly in the year 1983, 1985, 1993, 2001, 2005 and 2013 and
questions relating to Neolithic in 1992 and Neolithic revolution in the year
1984, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2014.
The question regarding organic evolution
especially synthetic theory has been asked in the year 1981, 1988, 1990,
1992, 1993 and 2010.
The question regarding concept of race has been
asked in 1962, 1988, 1991,2011,2013.
Lastly I would like to illustrate the questions relating to role of
anthropology in tribal or rural development which has been asked in the
year 1984, 1985, 1987, 1992, 2005 and 2014.
The above repetition of questions over the years is indicative of the fact
that dynamic model of anthropology is weak , so the preparation of limited
topics are viable.
